Back in October, P5A were involved in a project called Poetry in Motion, working with poet Linda Hutchinson. The children all submitted their favourite poems to be included in a special anthology (which is yet to be released. Fingers crossed for more good news!). It was a very exciting project with 30 primary and secondary schools from across Northern Ireland taking part.
Three St.Joseph's pupils: Eimhear, Patrick and Neeya were asked to read their poems in a special celebration event in The Ulster Hall, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the current circumstances. The poems submitted to the anthology were also entered into The Seamus Heaney Award for Achievement.
Neeya's poem was chosen as highly commended by the judges out of hundreds of entries, many of whom were much older. In fact, the winner and runner-up are secondary school pupils! It's a very special achievement and we are very proud of her. Hopefully, she keeps writing lots of interesting and exciting poems.
