Parent update: 29 08 2022

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope that you and your family are keeping well and looking forward to the pupils returning to school on Wednesday 31 August. All pupils will return on a full-time basis on that date, with the exception of our Primary 1 pupils, who have been given their own individual start dates.

Restart Arrangements

The drop-off and pickup arrangements for the school are as follows:

  • All classes will arrive between 08:45 and 09:00.
  • The same designated entrances and exits remain in place for each year group.
  • P1, P2 & P3 will finish at 14:00 from Monday – Thursday and at 13:45 on Friday.
  • P4, P5, P6 & P7 will finish at 15:00 from Monday – Thursday and at 14:00 on Friday.
  • Breaktime and lunchtime will be modified to ensure that the amount of teaching time in class remains the same.

To ease the flow of traffic around the school, we are requesting that P3 - P7 pupils are dropped off at their normal school entrance gate, where they will make their way directly to class. A member of staff will be supervising at each entrance to the school grounds. Parents (apart from P1 & 2 parents) do not need to enter the school grounds.

Any children arriving late (i.e., after 09:00) should proceed to the School Office, using the Holland Drive entrance to the school.

School Dinners

There will be no school dinners on Wednesday 31 August and all pupils should bring a packed lunch on that day; school dinners resume on Thursday 1 September.

This year, we are continuing to promote healthy school break and encourage the pupils to eat either a piece of fruit, yogurt or bread-based snack.

Please remember to avoid sending in any products that contain or ‘may contain’ nuts.

Staff matters

Details of teachers and classes may be accessed here.

A warm welcome is extended to Mrs Cullen - who will teach P5A this year, and Miss Donaghy – who will teach P4B until the appointment of a new Vice- Principal.

Communication

School news and notices will continue to be communicated through the news section of the school’s website at http://stjosephsps.co.uk/ and the accompanying iClass app. If you have not already done so, please download the app and create an account to keep up to date with all the latest information.

If a parent wishes to communicate with a teacher, please contact him/her directly via SeeSaw or leave a message with the office. An appointment will be arranged should you wish to speak in person.

PE and School Uniform

Pupils should wear full school uniform from 31 August, with PE uniforms being worn on designated PE days. Please ensure that all clothing is clearly labelled. For more information on uniform purchases please click here.

Breakfast and Kidz clubs

The Breakfast and Kidz clubs will recommence on 31 August. For more details on this please contact Caroline in the school office.

Kind regards

Mr Donaldson
