Dear Parents/Carers
Covid update
Since the mid-term, there has been a notable decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases among pupils in St Joseph’s. However, unfortunately this has not been the case with staff, and we have experienced a significant number of positive cases among teachers, classroom assistants, supervisors, and cleaning staff. This has had an impact on the running of the school, as staff are covering absence on a daily basis. It has also been compounded by the difficulty in obtaining substitute teachers. However, as yet, we have avoided sending classes home for remote learning and will only do as a last resort.
Drop-off and Pick-up arrangements
The current drop-off and pickup arrangements will remain the same and be reviewed again at the end of the Spring Term.
Parent/teacher meetings
Parent/teacher meetings will take place the week beginning 28 March – times and dates for the appointments will be issued next week. Although we are resuming face to face meetings, please inform the class teacher if you would prefer a telephone meeting instead. As we are trying to coordinate family groups, face-to-face meetings and telephone meetings, it is important that the times allocated are adhered to, in order to make the process run as smoothly as possible.
Classes will finish at 13:45 (P1A - P7A) and 14:00 (P1B - P7B) every day that week to facilitate this. If you wish to use Happy Kidz that week, please contact the office for details on availability.
Trocaire
All proceeds raised from the P7 Bring and Buy Sale (traditionally held during the last week of the Spring Term) and an Activity Day planned for the 16 March, will be donated to Trocaire.
Staff Matters
Sadly, I have to inform you that after 11 years of teaching in St Joseph’s, Mrs Devlin (P5A) will be leaving the school at the end of the Spring Term. Mrs Brockerton will teach the class for the duration of the Summer Term.
School Closed for St Patrick’s Day
A reminder that St Joseph’s is closed on 17 and 18 March for the St Patrick’s Day break.
Kind regards
Mr Donaldson
