Parent Update: 04 03 2021

04-March-21

Dear Parents/Carers

A reminder that pupils in P1 to P3 will return to full-time face-to-face teaching from 8 March 2021 for 2 weeks and resume Remote Learning from the week beginning 22 March until the start of the Easter holidays; they will then return to full-time face-to-face teaching after the Easter holidays. The school will be closed for all pupils on 17 March (St Patrick’s Day).

Remote learning at home will continue to be provided to P4 - 7 pupils, rather than face to face teaching in school, until Easter. What happens after that is dependent on the public health position at the time.

The school will continue to remain open during this period for P4 - 7 vulnerable children and the children of key workers to facilitate ‘supervised learning’.

Arrangements for entering and exiting school grounds are as follows:

  • All the ‘A’ classes will arrive between 08:45 and 09:00.
  • All the ‘B’ classes will arrive between 09:00 and 09:15.
  • Parents with children in both ‘A’ and ‘B’ classes may arrive at the later time.
  • P1A, 2A and 3A will finish at 13:45.
  • P1B, 2B and 3B will finish at 14:00.
  • P4 – 7 Key workers’ children will arrive at 09:00 and enter by the Shelter door.
  • All pupils are to use the Church carpark entrance and follow the one-way system.
  • Any children arriving late should proceed to the School Office, using the Holland Drive entrance to the school.

As health and safety is our number one priority, the same measures that we employed pre-Christmas will resume:

  • Everyone entering the school will sanitise their hands.
  • Children will wash their hands thoroughly on arrival to class and will be asked to do so repeatedly during their time in school.
  • Protective bubbles, with consistent membership, will be used throughout the school day.
  • Movement around the school will be limited.
  • There will be designated areas in the playground for break and lunch.
  • Parents/carers will be contacted immediately if their child is displaying symptoms or feeling ill.

Please do not send your child to school if your child, or anyone you live with, has a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss of or change in sense of smell or taste. If your child or anyone in your household has any of these symptoms you should get a test for Covid-19.

To help us in our efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the community, please avoid congregating in groups within the school grounds or at the gates of the school and wear a face mask when dropping off or collecting children from school.

Teachers will keep you updated on individual class arrangements through the SeeSaw app.

Following the latest guidance from the Minister of Education the Breakfast, Waiting and Kidz Clubs will not resume until after the Easter holidays.

School dinners will be available from P1 - 3 pupils and may be booked using ParentPay; they will continue to be served directly to children in their classroom. P4 – 7 Key Workers’ children will continue to bring a packed lunch.

Parents/Teacher meetings will be held in May; we are currently looking at the best way to organise this, given the current restrictions.

As always, if you need to contact me directly about any of the above, please email me using either stjoesps@gmail.com or the contacts link on the school website.

Kind regards

Mr Donaldson
