Dear Parents/Carers,
We have just been instructed by the Chief Executive of the Education Authority to close today at 12 noon due to the expected impact of Storm Amy
Following further confirmation from the Met Office this morning that this upgraded warning will remain in place today I am writing to inform you that all schools located in the areas affected by the amber warning in Northern Ireland are required to close at 12 midday today, Friday 03 October 2025, due to severe weather conditions.
The alert covers the western half of Northern Ireland - counties Antrim, Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh.
It has cited the potential for power cuts and damage to buildings, including a risk of injuries from flying debris.
I understand this will impact on the work of schools but the decision has been taken to avoid any potential risk to life for children, young people and staff.
It is essential that I follow this advice and ensure that the pupils, staff and parents in our school community arrive home safely today.
Please collect P1 - P3 pupils from 11.45am today.
Please collect P4 - P7 pupils from 12 noon today.
There will be no Happy Kids After School provision today.
Kind regards,
Mr Donnelly
