Yesterday, we held our first ever 'Diversity Assembly' to acknowledge and celebrate the cosmopolitan make-up of our school.
The assembly began with a video of pupils and staff, listing the different birthplaces (around seventeen we think) that we hail from...Dubai to Donegal and many others in between!
We were then treated to some Chinese dances from Ms Wei and her friends from the Confucius Programme. Ms Wei has been teaching Mandarin in St. Joseph's to P5, 6 and 7 pupils for the past few months and has been a wonderful addition to our school.
Another valuable member of St. Joseph's, Liliana, who works as a classroom assistant and has taught Spanish for many years in St. Joseph's, then captivated the audience with a wonderful presentation on Spanish-speaking countries across the globe and in particular, her beloved homeland Columbia. As part of her presentation, she also displayed and explained some musical instruments that are used in Columbia.
To close the assembly, we had some magnificent Irish dancing from a trio of talented P6 girls.
