Plans for home learning

22-March-20

Dear Parents/Carers

To ensure that the disruption to our pupils’ education is kept to a minimum, teachers been working hard to develop a programme of learning to adapt to these changing circumstances.

Our main vehicle for delivering the curriculum will be through the online learning application ‘Seesaw’. This allows the teacher to set work, give written explanations or a video explanation as an accompaniment, receive the finished work from the pupils and mark and comment on this accordingly. To facilitate this, we have opened two-way communication channels on ‘Seesaw, allowing teachers and parents/pupils to communicate directly with each other. Teachers will be monitoring communications on a regular basis throughout the normal school day to support, facilitate and advise learners.Work packs have already been distributed to pupils of P1-3 classes as these are more appropriate to help meet the needs of our younger children.

As you can appreciate, this situation that we are facing is totally unprecedented. However, we will continue to monitor how we are meeting the challenges presented and adapt our teaching methods accordingly in light of experience.

If you need to contact me directly, please do so either by telephone at the school, or by email using either stjoesps@gmail.com or the contacts link on the school website.

Kind regards

Mr Donaldson
